We love our First Kids! With programs available for ages Birth -5th grade, we are here to support our kids and their families through Faith Formation.

In order to insure the safety and health of all the children and workers, please refrain from bringing your child if he or she has any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever, Rash, Open Sores, Runny Nose (anything but clear). If your child develops a fever or other illness symptoms, we will come find you. No medication will be given to any child. Parents should report any allergies to the staff in charge.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!!”

Sunday morning offerings

First Kids Rejoice

We offer classes from our youngest disciples in the Nursery up through 5th grade. During our time together we will grow in our Faith through Bible Stories, songs, crafts and sharing.

We also offer Extended Worship for our children through Kindergarten. We welcome all ages in worship and enjoy Children’s Time together in the service. Extended Worship is a time for our little ones to leave the sanctuary and learn about the days message on their level.

wednesday night live

Runs September through November and January through March

Cherub Choir: 3k thru Kindergarten meets in Room 205

Children’s Choir: 1st Grade thru 5th Grade meets in Room 216

At 5:30 PM our children meet to sing praises to our Lord! This is immediately followed by small group classes which are a follow up from First Kids Rejoice on Sunday Mornings. Wednesday night will focus on songs and reflection of the lesson. We invite our families to join us for a meal and fellowship in the Kirk. This is a wonderful night to refuel for the remainder of the week!

worship education

Worship Education is offered as a 3-part series beginning with our 1st Graders to help prepare them for their time in Worship. We will learn about Baptism, Communion, and the parts of the service/bulletin. In 3rd Grade, we will follow up with a more in depth Worship Education. This will be a review of, “What is…” Baptism, Communion, and the parts of Worship, but we will also learn the Books of the Bible and how we can be a part of Worship at a Young Age. Some examples of this are helping with worship by reciting the Apostle’s Creed and The Lord’s Prayer. At the conclusion of the 3rd Grade Worship Education, all children are presented with a Bible.

nursery

The nursery is open every Sunday for worship services and Sunday School, Wednesday Night Live, and for special church events. It is generally open 15 minutes before an event. Our purpose is to provide a safe, loving, fun, and comfortable environment for both you and your child. To accomplish this, our workers will talk, rock, walk, feed and play with the children to ensure they are content.

We believe your child is a special gift from God – so we want to provide the best care possible. In order for us to provide safe and loving care for your child, please:

  1. Label everything (bottle, diaper bag, pacifier, etc.);
  2. Sign your child in on the check-in form. Make sure to pick up your nursery pager.

Laura Willette

Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation
lauraw@fpcandersonsc.com

Laura Willette is from Midland, NC and was raised in the United Methodist church.  From a young age she participated in  Sunday School,  mission trips, choir, handbells, Vacation Bible School, and youth group.

She has previously worked in the non-profit world doing fundraising.  She also worked in the banking industry for many years, and most recently taught preschool at Trinity UMC. She loves being involved and volunteering at her children’s schools, and currently serves as the PTA President at Concord Elementary.

Laura has a love for children and the many ‘lightbulb’ moments.  She is excited for the future of First Presbyterian and our First Kids as we learn and grow in our Faith.  Most days you can find her hanging out on the 2nd floor, planning a new activity, lesson,  or craft for our kids.  Stop in anytime!

Laura moved to Anderson in 2016 with her husband, Tim, their children, Madison and TJ, and their two dogs.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family outside, hiking, and camping.   She and her family are always up for an adventure!

As members of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, we are called to create a community of faith that seeks the welfare of its members and visitors. Therefore, we are committed to the protection of all children, youth, and other persons participating in the activities and programs of First Presbyterian Church. The Safe Church Policy has evolved from a shared concern that the church must be a safe and secure place for our children, youth and adults.

Please read the Safe Church Policy and Procedures Manual if you are approved to serve in an area of ministry, then fill out the Statement of Compliance and Permission for Background Check Forms. These may be submitted digitally, or you may also print, complete and deliver to the Church office.
